February 12, 2019

Central Catholic Baseball Parents, Players, Supporters & Coaches,

I wanted to share with all of you some information regarding “our” program as we transition into the start of “official practice” for the 2019 Season on Monday.  Thanks for your continued support of Fighting Irish Baseball.  We hope to see you at some games this spring season.

Fighting Irish Baseball “Spirit Wear”

Included with this newsletter is the link to the on line Central Catholic Baseball Store.  Many times we hear from our supporters who are looking to purchase some Fighting Irish Baseball Gear.  Please keep in mind that our store is only open for a short time.  You will notice that our hats are not included in this store.  We sell our game hats, as well as a white hat, through our clubhouse throughout the season (while supplies last).

PEMBROKE, N.C. – Ohio Dominican senior catcher Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio – CCHS ‘15) was tabbed as a Preseason Second Team All-American by the NCBWA last week.

He had 27 multi-hit games and 17 multi-RBI games, took a 23 game hitting streak into the NCAA Tournament, and also had a stretch of reaching base safely in 36 straight games. Facing some of the best pitching in the region, he batted .440 in the NCAA Tournament (11-for-25) with a homer and seven RBIs and had a stretch of reaching base safely in 15 straight plate appearances in the tournament.

In 140 career games played, Kaucher is batting .368 with 12 homers, 33 doubles, 132 RBIs, 107 runs scored, a .445 OBP and a .525 slugging percentage.

Ohio Dominican begins the season with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Grand Valley State on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Prasco Park in Mason.
