Midway through his high school sports career at Central Catholic, Jase Bowen has already built a solid resume with the Fighting Irish.
That includes a verbal commitment to a scholarship offer that will keep him a Fighting Irish athlete for four more years after he graduates in 2019.
On May 24, the 16-year-old Bowen accepted an offer to play baseball at the University of Notre Dame. He was recruited as a shortstop, and can also play center field.
“I picked Notre Dame because my family and I have always been big on education,” said Bowen, who carries a 4.65 grade-point average at Central. “In our view, we thought Notre Dame was the best for that. They say the college you pick shouldn’t be a four-year setup, but a 40-year setup.
“Notre Dame was the best 40-year setup for me. The history, the fan base, the alumni. It just seemed like the best for me.”
