Girls Tennis

The Central Catholic girl’s tennis team competes in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference and Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II.  The program won back-to-back City League Championships in 2009 and 2010. The program has had three state qualifiers.  The Irish have consistently finished in the top four in their conference league. Tryouts take place the first week of August and the program has a no cut policy.

2016 Recap:

  • 22-1 record, 7-0 TRAC
  • 1st in TRAC tournament, and won (not just in finals) 4 of the 5 flights (1,2,3 singles and 1 doubles).
  • 2016 sectional singles champion, Ava McQuillin, and sectional doubles champion (Sophia Spinazze and Maverick Delp) and runner up (Katy Mattimoe and Rachel Gorman)
  • Sent five players to 2016 district tournament and 3 (Spinazze and Delp in doubles, McQuillin in singles) to Ohio state tournament
  • Made it to the final four in the 2016 OTCA state team tournament (a first for CCHS tennis history) and placed third overall, defeating Columbus Academy for Girls in 3rd/4th playoff

2015 Season Highlights:

  • 2015 record: 11-4 overall, 6-1 in the TRAC
  • Finished 2nd overall in the 2015 TRAC tournament, with players competing in four of the five finals
  • Maverick Delp finished 1st at the number two singles spot in the TRAC tournament
  • Doubles team of Maverick Delp and Sophia Spinazze won DII sectionals and districts and placed fourth in the state tournament in Cincinnati at the Lindner Family Tennis Center this past weekend. They were the youngest team to place and the first girls tennis team in CCHS history to make it to the state semifinals.
  • Two first team All-TRAC, 2 second team All-TRAC, 2 All-TRAC Honorable mention
  • Doubles Team earned first-team All-District and first team All-State (a first for CCHS tennis history)
  • 12 players earned All-Academic awards
  • Delp and Spinazze earned first team All-TRAC
  • Seniors Olivia Wright and Amelia Buchele earned second team All-TRAC and placed fourth in sectionals to qualify for districts
  • Freshman Rachel Gorman and senior Alex Nester earned Honorable Mention All-TRAC award
  • Delp and Spinazze were first team All-District and First Team All-State
Looking ahead….
  • Tryouts take place the first week of August (no cut policy)
  • Head coach Lisa Bialorucki (lbialorucki@centralcatholic.org) and Assistant Coach Morgan Delp (mdelp@centralcatholic.org) will be at Open House Nov. 8th. Please contact us with any questions about off-season play or tryouts for next year.
