HURON — Central Catholic’s pursuit of reaching a third straight Division III state football final moved a step closer Saturday night, as the top-ranked Fighting Irish jumped out to a 28-point halftime lead and cruised to a 56-13 victory over Hunting Valley University School at Huron’s Kalahari Field.
Central senior running back Michael Warren carried 20 times for 275 yards and scored five touchdowns on runs of 4, 7, 58, 55, and 32 yards to lead the Irish (12-0).
On his 18th birthday, Warren moved up to No. 6 the Ohio career rushing list at 7,387 yards, and his five TDs moved him up to No. 9 all-time in the state with 103.
